01The problem

Every gap on the pallet travels with it.

Most pallets are planned with a spreadsheet formula: pallet length divided by carton length, times pallet width divided by carton width. That gives a tidy grid – and often wasted space. Turning and combining blocks puts more cartons on the same deck.

Example: carton 290 × 170 × 200 mm on a EUR pallet. Drag the slider to compare both layers.

Spreadsheet grid · 16 Block pattern · 19

Spreadsheet grid: 16 cartons per layer. Block pattern: 19 cartons per layer.

Calculated with this page’s web calculator: EUR pallet 1200 × 800 × 144 mm, max. 1144 mm overall height, 1000 kg payload, 8 kg per carton, no tier sheets, no overhang. Pallet spaces: 34 EUR pallets crosswise (two side by side, 17 deep) in a 13.6 m semi-trailer, as in the app’s cargo-space example.

02The solution

One model, from product to truck.

In JetPallet every step belongs to one project. Change the carton and the pallet and costs recalculate instantly; JetPallet marks vehicle and axle-load results as outdated and recalculates them at the click of a button.

The product becomes a shipping case

Enter the product size and the count per case. JetPallet calculates every fitting arrangement including wall thickness and ranks them by outer volume – or by how many products end up on the pallet.

    100 × 80 × 50 mm, 12 pcs → 81 proposals

    JetPallet window “Calculate outer carton”: product 100 × 80 × 50 mm, 12 per case, 81 proposals, 3 × 2 × 2 selected with outer size 156 × 166 × 206 mm.

The pallet calculates as you type

Layer pattern, cartons per layer, layers, overall height, gross weight and centre of gravity appear while you enter dimensions. Any layer can be adjusted by hand; the geometry is checked as you go.

    Pallets become a load

Choose a semi-trailer, a container or your own cargo space. JetPallet places the pallets, calculates loading metres and weight and – with your vehicle data – the axle loads.

03What makes it different

Change one dimension. Everything follows.

Tools that only stack boxes into trucks start with a finished pallet. JetPallet starts with the carton. That is why you see what two centimetres of carton height mean for the whole supply chain.

06Honest numbers

What JetPallet calculates – and what it doesn’t.

Professionals rightly ask what they can rely on. So JetPallet clearly separates calculation, estimate and what no software can approve.

Calculates and checks geometrically

  • Layer patterns and counts
  • Height, weight, volume utilisation
  • Centre of gravity
  • Loading metres and pallet spaces
  • Axle loads from your vehicle data (static)

Estimates

  • Load securing per EN 12195-1 and EN 12642
  • Compression strength per McKee
  • Tipping warnings (coefficients from secondary sources)
  • CO₂e scenarios from your factors
  • Stretch film and costs

Does not approve

  • No stability or transport approval
  • No standards compliance or certification
  • Dangerous goods as warnings only (ADR), no check
  • No guarantee of stack safety

09Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Missing your question? Write to us via the Contact.

Does JetPallet only run on a Mac?

Yes. JetPallet is a Mac app. There is no version for Windows or Linux, and no web app. Without a Mac, you can try the basic cartons-per-pallet calculation in the web calculator on this site.

Which version of macOS do I need?

macOS 15 or later.

Does JetPallet run on Apple silicon and Intel Macs?

JetPallet runs on macOS 15 or later.

Which pallets are built in?

Among others: Euro pallet (1,200 × 800 mm), industrial pallet (1,200 × 1,000 mm), half pallet (800 × 600 mm), plastic quarter/display pallet (600 × 400 mm), plastic Düsseldorf/display half pallet (DIN 15159-1, 800 × 600 mm), GMA pallet (48 × 40 in), 42 × 42 in, Asian pallet (1,100 × 1,100 mm), Australian pallet (1,165 × 1,165 mm) and the steel mesh box pallet. You can enter custom sizes at any time. Template heights and tare weights are guide values.

Which trucks and containers does JetPallet know?

The cargo space library contains 21 sourced profiles based on published manufacturer data: 11 planning profiles (20 ft, 40 ft, 40 and 45 ft high cube containers, curtainsider, box, mega and reefer semi-trailers, swap bodies) and 10 reefer, open top and flat rack containers. For “Plan cargo space” there are also standard vehicles such as a 7.5 t truck and a 53 ft US trailer. You can create your own cargo spaces and share them as JSON files.

Can I work in inches and pounds?

Yes. Input fields accept millimetres, inches, feet, kilograms and pounds, including fractions such as “12 3/8 in”. Centimetres, metres, grams and tonnes are understood in CSV/XLSX imports and in ERP JSON. Display can be set to metric, dual or imperial.

Which languages is JetPallet available in?

The interface is available in 47 languages. German and English are reviewed and released; the other 45 – including French, Spanish, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese and Hindi – are a machine-translated preview, not yet reviewed by language specialists. Load plans, driver sheets and pallet labels can be produced in the same 47 languages, independent of the interface language and with the same review status.

Where is my data stored?

All planning happens on your Mac: no account, no cloud, no usage analytics, no AI services. Barcode recognition from photos runs directly on your Mac, with no upload. Projects are files you save yourself. Only the purchase and subscription status go through Apple’s App Store.

How much does JetPallet cost?

There is one version with every feature: free for 14 days, then USD 99 a year. No editions, no add-ons. Prices in other currencies are shown by the App Store according to Apple’s price tiers.

How does the free trial work, and how do I cancel?

The trial starts when you take out the annual subscription in the App Store and gives you 14 days with every feature. If you don’t cancel, it continues into the paid year. You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account’s subscription settings; under App Store rules, at least 24 hours before the current period ends. The free trial is available once per Apple Account; Family Sharing is not supported.

What happens to my projects if my subscription ends?

You can still open and view your projects. Your own data – libraries, cargo space profiles, articles and CSV templates – remains exportable. Editing, calculating, exporting results, printing, sharing and Shortcuts output need an active subscription. Your files stay on your Mac, unchanged.

Can I get an invoice for my company?

Purchases run through the Mac App Store; Apple issues the receipt. For companies and multiple seats: please get in touch – the contact page.

Can I import data from Excel?

Yes. JetPallet reads CSV and Excel (XLSX) files with a column mapping you choose, which can be saved for next time. Orders from ERP systems can be imported as JSON.

Which export formats are available?

PDF packing report with your own logo, packing instructions, pallet labels with SSCC/GS1-128, load plan PDF with a driver sheet in 47 languages, a shareable HTML 3D plan, CSV and JSON, ERP result, CAD formats (STEP, IGES, COLLADA, OBJ, USDZ, DXF) and a build-up video (layer by layer). Inside the app you can automate with Shortcuts (Calculate pallet, Open project, Create report as PDF, Plan ERP order) and AppleScript (calculate pallet, export report, plan ERP order). Files such as the PDF report and the ERP result are best created with Shortcuts.

Are the calculations certified or standards-compliant?

No. Pallet patterns are calculated and checked geometrically. Load securing (based on EN 12195-1 and EN 12642), tipping notes and compression strength are estimated, and dangerous goods (ADR, IMDG) are covered by warnings only. JetPallet doesn’t replace a check by a qualified person. See “Limits of the calculation” for details.
