Packing instructions, reports and load plans from one plan

Packing instructions tell the warehouse how to build a pallet: which pattern, how many cartons per layer, how high and how heavy. JetPallet produces them alongside the PDF packing report, pallet labels, the vehicle load plan with driver sheet, and files for 3D, spreadsheets and video – all from the same calculated solution. Change the carton, export again, and the paperwork matches the plan.

Workflow

How it works in JetPallet.

  1. 1

    Plan the pallet

Enter carton, pallet and limits. JetPallet calculates the layer pattern as you type and checks its geometry. Every document is generated from exactly this solution.

  2. 2

Set up the report template once

Add company name, address, order number, reference, person in charge, footer text and paper size (A4 or US Letter). A logo (PNG, JPEG, TIFF or HEIC) is scaled down, stored in the project and placed top right on every report page.

  3. 3

    Choose a document and export

From the Pallet menu, pick packing report, packing instructions, pallet labels, carton positions, a 3D file or the build-up video. For the vehicle load plan you also choose the document language.

  4. 4

    Hand it on

PDFs go to the warehouse or your suppliers, the HTML plan travels as a single file by email or shared folder, CSV and JSON feed spreadsheets, ERP or a robot cell. You print reports straight from the app (⌘P, page setup ⇧⌘P), and “Share” in the toolbar sends the load-plan HTML or packing-report PDF via the macOS share sheet to Mail, Messages or AirDrop. Everything is generated locally on your Mac.

Why the paperwork drifts away from the plan

Many teams plan the pallet in one tool and write the warehouse instructions in another – a photo, a sketch, a spreadsheet. When someone changes the carton size or the layer sequence, the old instructions stay in circulation, and the warehouse builds a pallet that no longer exists on paper.

Each reader also needs something different: the warehouse wants layers and placing order, purchasing wants figures and costs, the driver needs an overview per drop, engineering may want a 3D file. Redrawing each document by hand is where the mistakes creep in.

What you end up with

  • PDF packing report with logo and report template (A4 or US Letter)
  • Packing instructions as a one-page PDF (A4 or US Letter) with layers and placing order
  • Vehicle load plan PDF with a driver sheet per drop in 47 document languages
  • Shareable HTML 3D plan and mobile load view
  • Carton positions as CSV and JSON
  • STEP, IGES, COLLADA, OBJ, USDZ and DXF
  • Build-up video as MOV

In detail

In detail

01

Packing instructions for the warehouse

One page (A4 or US Letter) with what the team on the floor needs: “cartons per layer × layers = cartons”, carton and pallet dimensions, and for each layer the pattern, carton count, top edge and running weight, plus numbered top views in placing order. If the top layer is only partly filled, the sheet says which cartons it holds.

02

Vehicle load plan with driver sheet

For planned vehicles you get a PDF with a cover page, loading steps in reverse unloading order and a driver sheet for each drop showing the remaining load. The document language is independent of the app language: you choose from 47 languages, with Arabic and Hebrew set right to left. More under Truck and container loading.

03

Shareable HTML 3D plan and mobile load view

“Share load plan” writes a single HTML file with a 3D view, layer slider, top view and table. It loads no external resources and opens in any browser. The mobile vehicle load view shows loading steps and driver sheets from 360 px wide and stays readable and printable without JavaScript.

04

Data for spreadsheets, CAD and presentations

  • Carton positions as CSV/JSON: layer, number in placing order, X/Y/Z in mm, dimensions and rotation for every carton.
  • 3D files: STEP (AP214), IGES, COLLADA, OBJ, USDZ and DXF with the actual layers, partial layers and overhang.
  • Build-up video: an MOV at 1280 × 720 or 640 × 360 pixels and 24 frames per second that builds the pallet layer by layer.

05

Pallet labels in the same workflow

From the same plan you print pallet labels in A6 portrait or A5 landscape, with an SSCC and GS1-128 barcode if you need one. See Pallet labels with SSCC.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

What should pallet packing instructions include?

At least carton and pallet dimensions, the layer pattern, cartons per layer, number of layers, total count, height and weight. A top view of each layer with the placing order and a note on any partial top layer help on the floor. JetPallet’s packing instructions put all of this on one page.

Can I add my company logo to the packing report?

Yes. The logo is imported as PNG, JPEG, TIFF or HEIC, scaled down, stored in the project and shown top right on every page of the packing report, the packing instructions and the other reports.

Which languages is the driver sheet available in?

In 47 languages, independent of the app language – including Polish, Romanian, Turkish, Arabic and Chinese. German and English are reviewed; the other 45 are machine-translated and not yet reviewed by language specialists.

Does the recipient need JetPallet to open the 3D plan?

No. The shareable plan is a single HTML file without external resources and opens in a current web browser.
